Marty McFly instant laces: One Nike step closer to reality
Regular readers of Pocket-lint will know how much we absolutely love Back to the Future, so imagine our hysterical joy when we stumbled across the news that Nike has filed a patent for some auto-lacing shoes, just like the ones that Marty dons in part 2.
We've seen a few botch custom jobs like these ones below, but a genuine Nike pair - well, you could be looking at the best pair of trainers of all time.
As well as the auto-tie function, the sneakers' patent also mentions a charging system and lights.
Don't get your hopes up though, we know from past disappointments that some ideas get left in the patent drawer never to see the light of day.
But surely Nike realises that there is an entire generation of men who would sell their own mothers to own a pair of Marty's trainers.
Nike - just do it.
