Hasbro is at Toy Fair New York introducing new interactive Star Wars toy for all the young Padawans out there.

Called the Star WarsLightsaber Academy, it's basically a modern version of the lightsaber we all love. It features the usual extendable lightsaber base. But it adds built-in training exercises and activities, which are accessible via a smartphone app that it connects to over Bluetooth. The idea is that, through various interactive challenges, this new lightsaber will teach you to fight like a Jedi.

Once connected to the companion app, you'll get a guide on how to fight like five different Star Wars characters, including Yoda, Rey, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Kylo Ren. The walk-through then goes over their respective styles of fighting, which includes how they pose and so on, and then it uses motion tracking to chart your activity and decide whether you've mastered each method.

You'll get scored during the challenges. And, of course, Lightsaber Academy will let you battle it out with other players. If any of this interests you, Hasbro's Star Wars Lightsaber Academy lightsabers will cost $49.99, according to The Verge. There's also a standard version with no Bluetooth for $7.99, and Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader models for $19.99. They all launch from 4 October.

While the standard ones can't connect to a mobile app, they can still access some of the new interactive content via a QR code.
