Dell seems to be the latest victim in the battle to be crowned king of the MP3 players. According to a number of blogs on the Internet, the company is rumoured to have ceased production of its Dell DJ citing poor sales.

The company is still to sell its Dell Ditty flash based player, however.

Dell spokesmen Liem Nguyen said "We saw an opportunity to streamline and consolidate our portfolio. We made a decision to transition from the hard-drive products to flash players at the beginning of this year".

However, when Pocket-lint spoke to Dell in the UK, the company wasn't so forthcoming.

“We refuse to comment on the rumours”, a spokeswomen said.

If the rumours are true, the company will be the latest in a long line of companies who have been pushed out of the MP3 market due to Apple's strong dominance.

Apple's latest figures show that it sold 14 million iPod players in the three months running up to Christmas - 100 every minute.
