The critically acclaimed adidas by Stella McCartney collaboration enters its fifth season with the spring/summer 07 collection. The line introduces Gym Yoga as a new category, adding another dimension to the highly functional apparel, footwear and accessory pieces that fuse performance and style.

Inspired by ballet and dance, the Gym Yoga products feature performance pieces in unique designs with Layering as the key concept that is highlighted in many of the styles. “I am so proud that this collaboration continues to grow with the introduction of Yoga as a new highlight within the Gym category“, says Stella McCartney, “and I am thrilled that each season we are able to merge more and more performance products with style”.

Highlight styles within the Gym Yoga category are the Yoga tank with a double layer effect in the back, a deep neckline with ruchings and baby flatlock seams and the low waist, drappy Yoga pant. Gym Studio features a Leotard, a glamorous, versatile and easy-to-combine dance piece with a sporty tweak and the Lalima, a lightweight and simplistic shoe usable for dance and martial art classes, with a design reminiscent of Victorian boots, featuring asymmetric lacing system.

Tennis is the second highlight category of the spring/summer 07 collection. The design inspiration is strongly influenced by men’s tailoring. A gracefully designed new Tennis dress embodies the key piece: it perfectly reflects Stella’s way of balancing femininity with masculine elements through higher waistlines, collar executions and pleating details. Together with other selected Tennis outfits the dress will be worn by Maria Kirilenko when competing in all major tennis tournaments.

Alongside Gym Yoga and Tennis, the spring/summer 07 range continues to offer highly functional
products for Running and Swim, including the highly popular pack-away models in apparel and accessories. Another highlights are the lace prints that are present in some of the unique pieces in apparel and footwear.

In Running, the spring/summer 07 collection also introduces adidas’ TechFit™ Powerweb technology for the first time within the adidas by Stella McCartney range. This technology uses compression to reduce muscle vibration, improve posture and speed recovery after your workout. In addition, the Powerweb bands link key muscles and work like springs to increase athletic power. Another highlight within the Running category is the Daya, the lightest running shoe ever in this collection, weighing only 150 grams. The line also continues to feature the successful a³ Flyride Running shoe.

The new season’s color palette redefines once more traditional sports colors through the introduction of the muted delicate seed pearl next to metallic silver shades and white alongside the unexpected strong pink shade, absolute pink. Warm silver hues work alongside summer brights such as the reddish melon or the yellow calvi, while slightly darker elegant blue and green tones reflect the general retro inspiration of the range.

The spring/summer 07 collection will hit retail in 600 stores in February 2007, including high-end department stores, adidas Sport Performance stores, Stella McCartney stores and selected sports retailers all around the world. Prices range from 15 Euros (Accessories) to 220 Euros (Apparel).
