Kingston Technology Company has launched the DataTraveler Locker, a hardware-based encrypted USB flash drive providing advanced data protection when on the move.

Kingston says the DataTraveler Locker is one of the first USB drives with high standard data security aimed at consumers and SMBs at a competitive price.

The DataTraveler Locker features hardware-based, 256bit AES encryption with a public and an encrypted zone to safeguard even the most sensitive data in case the drive is lost or stolen.

"With the advanced 256bit AES encryption it would not only take a hacker more than a hundred trillion years to crack the code, the USB drive will completely erase the stored data after ten failed login attempts, meaning there would be no chance for the records to fall into the wrong hands", said Kirsty Miller, EMEA consumer product manager, Kingston Technology.

The DT Locker will be available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB at Staples.
