American tech retail giant Best Buy has confirmed that it will be launching its first store in the UK, giving Brits a chance to get the best deals around.

The first UK store will open in Thurrock, Essex in May 2010 followed by Hedge End (Southampton) and Merry Hill (West Midlands) in June, before further stores open across the UK.

Looking to shake up the market against shops like PC World and Currys, Best Buy plans to focus on home cinema to bring in the crowds.

"The Thurrock store will feature an immersive 3DTV experience, with surround sound systems, speakers, Blu-ray receivers, headphones and wireless streaming solutions", the company has said.

The company is also promising bespoke in-home consultations and installations of the best in-home entertainment technology, customised lighting, speaker and remote calibration and wireless solutions.

Customers will also be able to buy the latest Blu-ray, DVD and music releases, video games and consoles as well as other gadget goodies like cameras, computers, mobile phones, home appliances, fixed and mobile broadband.

Best Buy says they also plan to open a store in Aintree near Liverpool and confirmed that it will be opening a store in Croydon, Surrey, in autumn 2010.
