Zoom has announced its Zoom for Home program, which will bring Zoom video calling to a number of smart displays including Google Assistant-enabled Smart Displays like the Nest Hub Max, as well as Portal from Facebook and Amazon's Echo Show.

Zoom compatibility will arrive on Portal from September 2020, and on Google Assistant-enabled displays and Amazon Echo Show from "late fall".

The Nest Hub Max already offers group video calling and one-to-one video calling through Google Duo and Google Meet, but when the Zoom update arrives, Nest Hub Max users will be able to say "Hey Google, join my Zoom meeting" and you will be connected to your next Zoom call on your Google calendar.

Any Zoom calendar entries you have in your Google calendar will also appear on your Google Assistant-enabled Smart Display and give you the option to tap the "Join with Zoom" button at the bottom to get going too.

For Portal, there will be one-touch "join meeting" features available and Portal's Smart Camera technology will keep you in the frame - something Nest Hub Max offers with Duo. It is not yet clear if it will offer the same for Zoom.

With Amazon Echo Show, users will be able to say "Alexa, join my Zoom meeting" and as long as your calendar is linked in the Alexa app, Alexa will start your scheduled Zoom meeting without you needing the Meeting ID or password.

Google hasn't confirmed exactly when in the fall the update bringing Zoom to Amazon's Echo Show, Google's Nest Hub Max and other Google Assistant-enabled Smart Displays will arrive but we will keep you updated when we hear more. We do know that the Echo Show 8 will be first from the Amazon smart displays.
