(Pocket-lint) - The Sony SmartBand Talk expands Sony's wearable offering, extending the range of possibilities you'll get from a wristband.
Announced at IFA 2014, the SmartBand Talk, as the name suggests, has a microphone and speaker, so will let you take calls on the move, so you can leave your phone in your bag. It even supports HD Voice.
There's an extra advantage of adding a microphone, as it will support voice control functions too, meaning you can leave your phone in your pocket.
There's a curved 1.4-inch e-paper display on the SmartBand Talk with a 288 x 128 resolution. Opting for e-paper should mean that this SmartBand stays visible in brighter conditions, but also lets you view notifications or the time. The 70mAh battery claims 3 days of life.
There's an accelerometer as well as an altimeter, so the SmartBand should be good for tracking your activity in association with Sony's Lifelog app on your smartphone.
The SmartBand Talk, like many Sony products, is IP68 rated, so you'll be able to wear it no matter what you're doing.
The SmartBand Talk will come in black or white versions initially, with additional red, blue, pink and lime straps to launch in the future.
The SmartBand Talk will cost €159.99 (approx £127) and will be available soon.
