LG has revealed to Pocket-lint that its Lifeband Touch fitness and lifestyle tracker and the supporting Heart Rate Earphones will be released in the UK and Europe in April. Previously, the company has only ever said "first half of 2014".

We were told the release window during a visit to the Korean manufacturer's InnoFest 2014 event in Venice. A company spokeswoman confirmed that both devices will be available sooner than some had previously thought.

The LG Lifeband Touch is the company's rival to fitness and lifestyle trackers from Nike, Sony and others. It links to an Android phone or iPhone and provides key fitness statistics.

There is a touch OLED display and the device can also tell the time and provide other smartwatch functions and features, such as alert you when you receive a text or incoming call. It is compatible with existing smartphone applications, such as MyFitnessPal, Runkeeper and MapMyFitness.

The Heart Rate Earphones can work in conjunction with the Lifeband Touch. They let you hear how fast your heart is beating through the use of PerformTek sensor technology that measures blood flow signals from the external part of the ear.

Prices for both devices are still yet to be revealed.
