UPDATE: Pavlok has just launch on Indiegogo to raise more funding. You can pick up an Early Bird deal for $129 now. All the $99 versions sold out within a few hours.

The Pavlok fitness band takes the phrase "no pain, no gain" rather literally and shocks its user if fitness training goals are not met.

The Pavlok, which takes its name from the Pavlov's Dog experiment where a dog was shocked until he performed, is now available to pre-order.

How much pain or rewarding you want from Pavlok is up to you. If you're feeling really confident you can even get involved with the community allowing you to get money if you hit goals, but meaning you have to pay fines if you skip training, say. And of course you'll get that electric shock too, at 340 volts, so it should have you forming positive habits in no time.

You can partner up with friends and if they don't hit goals you're allowed to remotely shock them. Pavlok also posts to social feeds to name and shame those that don't work out when they're supposed to.

Here's hoping these things don't get hacked or users could certainly be feeling it.

The Pavlok will connect to a mobile via Bluetooth 4.0 LE for data synching and readouts. But it will also offer haptic feedback while in use for more subtle guidelines rather than just shocking you everytime. It also has sleep tracking to offer a well earned night of sleep.

The Pavlok is £150 and should ship by early 2015.
