Oaxis, a tech company based in Singapore, has opened a round of crowdfunding on Pozible for a fitness band it claims will change your health and training habits by turning daily exercise and activities into a game.

The Star.21, which will cost $95 (£55) on release but is available on the funding site from 199 Chinese yuan (around £19), is based on a theory that after 21 days of continuous use, you will have settled into routines that are habit-forming.

In addition, when coupled with a dedicated smartphone application, it gamifies your fitness lifestyle regimes. It challenges you to hit daily exercise targets in order to "level up" or, if you don't, you can fall back levels like in a videogame.

Like other trackers on the market, Star.21 can register daily activities and count calories burned. It tracks sleep cycles, but also gives aid on managing sleep behaviour. There are also alerts that can be set up to prompt the wearer to regularly drink water, go to bed at set times, or to tell them that they've been inactive or sitting too long.

A silent sleep alarm mode in built-in, which vibrates rather than uses audio so you don't have to wake others.

Like the Nike+ FuelBand SE, the Star.21 uses LEDs for the display, which appear in patterns to show different statistics. It is splash proof, Bluetooth enabled and capable of lasting up to 15 days standby with needing a recharge.

Oaxis has just started the Pozible funding phase, which finishes on 31 August, but has already raised 25,679 yuan (£3,088) of a target of 100,000 yuan so is well on its way to smashing the goal.

The company hopes to ship the Star.21 bands from September to global customers.
