Sony's got some VR announcements that it spread out over the course of the day. There is news about six different projects for PSVR, so there's plenty to look forward to. Here's a round-up of everything discussed.

Doom 3 VR Edition

First up, not content with Deathloop's release shortly, Bethesda is squeezing in another PlayStation exclusive title before Microsoft finalises its purchase - Doom 3 VR Edition. This one's a bit more of a surprise, too, bringing id's bloody shooter to VR.

The game's coming out on March 29, so there's hardly any time to wait before you can play it, and it'll include the full Doom 3 campaign alongside both of its expansions, Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission.

That's about 15 hours of mayhem to enjoy, and it's a great excuse to revisit a classic from 2004 - the game's age doubtless being part of why it's so suited to VR, which can be more demanding graphically.

There are some nice touches for VR players, too, like a quick 180-degree turn and the all-important gun-mounted flashlights to really amp up the creepiness factor for what was a fairly scary game, especially compared to the more frenetic modern Doom titles.

After the Fall

The creator of zombie VR shooter Arizona Sunshine, Vertigo Games, is bringing After the Fall to PSVR. Announced a couple of years ago, it was supposed to launch in 2020 for PSVR and PC-based VR. It's been rescheduled for early 2021.

Fracked

The studio behind stealth shooter Phantom: Covert Ops, nDreams, has a new game called Fracked. It's an action shooter featuring skiing, climbing, and zip lines. It's about a fracking facility that’s been “taken over by an army of gun-wielding, interdimensional maniacs". The game will launch this summer. It'll work with PlayStation Move controllers on both generations of Sony consoles.

I Expect You to Die 2

PlayStation VR will support I Expect You To Die 2, the escape room sequel that's complete with spy-themed puzzles.

Song in the Smoke

Galak-Z developer 17-Bit is making a VR survival game called Song in the Smoke. It showcases crafting, hunting, scavenging, archery, and the exploration of an unknown world. It’s launching at some point during 2021.

Zenith: The Last City

Finally, Sony announced the 2021 release of Zenith. It's the multiplayer roleplaying game funded on Kickstarter in 2020. Set in a techy fantasy world, it'll let you climb, glide, and fight in a VR version of RPG combat.
