When the Steam Deck first launched people were naturally curious about which games would run on the handheld console. There were just 100 games that were playable at the time but that number has steadily and significantly climbed over time.

We wrote before about how to see which games will work on Steam Deck before you purchased, but it's worth knowing that there are now over 4,000 games deemed to be "playable". That means a mix of both Steam Deck Verified and playable games that you can purchase from the Steam store. That even includes new releases like Stray

As we've shown, there are various ways to check which games from your library are deemed either "verified", "playable" or "unsupported". The easiest of these tools is naturally the official one where you can see at a glance which of your games sit in those categories.

You can also turn to the SteamDB where you can see at a glance how many games are on the verified or playable lists. According to that data, there are 1,892 verified games and 2,161 deemed playable at the moment. We know from experience that many of the "unsupported" games also have a chance of working, though you often need to play around with the settings to customise key bindings and get games to play nicely.

So if you're still on the waiting list for your Steam Deck pre-order, then there are plenty of things to look forward to. Valve is regularly updating the handheld console to improve it in various ways and we've only had good things to say about it.
