Disney Investor Day: All the key announcements
With this event, we got a clearer idea of Disneyâs plan to adjust to the post-pandemic, plus whether it plans to release films originally intended for theaters on Disney+. Disney said its streaming service will be getting a ton of new content, including âroughlyâ 10 Star Wars series, 10 Marvel series, and 15 Disney live-action, Disney Animation, and Pixar series.
Fifteen Disney live-action, Disney Animation, and Pixar feature films are also coming to Disney+. In fact, Disney said we can expect hundreds more live-action and animated titles - from across its brands and franchises - to come to the service over the next few years. At the moment, it's set a schedule of over 100 new movies and shows to premiere on the service every year.
We already knew details on some of these projects, but Disney announced more information and has previewed teaser trailers.

Disney+ plans to integrate Star into the streaming service - but outside the US.
This will see the addition of adult-oriented content, such as shows like Family Guy and films like Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Star will only be available for subscribers outside the US because Disney currently uses Hulu to deliver most of this content in the US. Disney also announced expanded parental controls to ensure the streaming service stays appropriate for all ages.
The addition of Star will see the price of Disney+ rise to â¬8.99 in Europe, from 23 February 2021 in continental Europe. The new pricing will come to Latin America, Japan, and Korea later in 2021.

But the price increase is the difference between the standalone version of Huluâs service with ads and the ad-free version.
When bought separately, Disney+ is $6.99 per month, ESPN+ is $5.99 per month), and Hulu without ads is $11.99 per month.
The new bundle should launch in January 2021.

Many A-list actors' names were mentioned as stars for the new shows, including Michael Keaton, Steve Martin, Rosario Dawson, Selena Gomez, Martin Short, Kate McKinnon, and even the Kardashians. The family has made a deal to create global content, which will stream exclusively on Hulu in late 2021.
Disney also showed off footage for an upcoming season of The Handmaidâs Tale, revealing it's been renewed for a fifth season.
New and FX series, including an Alien show
New seasons of Atlanta, Dave, What We Do In The Shadows, and American Horror Story were all announced. It was also revealed that Itâs Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for four seasons, making it the longest-running live-action comedy. This will be the first series in the franchise, as well as the first to be set on Earth. Disney also revealed Shogun, a true-to-life Game of Thrones-style show set in feudal Japan, and Reservation Dog, an original series produced by Taiki Waititi.
