Guess how long it's been since the first Honda NSX caused jaws all over the world to hit the floor? 25 years. Yup, we feel old too. But now it's back with the looks and power of a modern hyper-car, including a hybrid drive system.
The 2015 Honda NSX now features a twin-turbocharged V6 engine backed by not one but three electric motors – two for the front wheels and one for the rear. All that means a ridiculous 9-speed gearbox, all wheel drive plus instantaneous torque response and dynamic left-to-right torque distribution.
There are four modes to chose from: Quiet for all electric city cruising, Sport and Sport+ for more power and enhanced handling, then Track mode for utter NSX fury. Even the engine noise is adjusted to suit the modes so be ready to pop in the earplugs for track mode then.
The first NSX was the world's first all aluminium supercar so it's no surprise that the 2015 NSX is still innovating. The multi-material body design uses the world's first material applications and construction processes, says Honda. Essentially it features an internal aluminium and high strength steel frame anchored by a carbon fibre floor.
At this stage numbers on power output, speed, pricing and release date have not been announced. Expect more details on Thursday when the Geneva Motor Show 2015 kicks-off properly. For now enjoy the gallery and try not to drool too much.
