Kodak has updated its Playsport video camcorder, now the Zx5 model, and introduced the new compact Playfull model at CES 2011 in Las Vegas and we were on hand to snap the new pocket camcorders.

The Playsport is now shockproof as well as waterproof and dustproof, it offers a 2-inch screen on the rear and gives you Full HD video capture (1920 x 1080 at 30fps).

The Playsport measures 58.2 x 111.9 x 17.7mm so will slip easily into your pocket, records to SD/SDHC cards and gives you USB and HDMI connections.

The Playsport will let you take it in up to 3 metres of deep water, comes in a variety of funky covers and will be available in April. We don’t have a UK price, we suspect it will be £179.

The Playfull offers a more compact Full HD camcorder, measuring 41.7 x 100 x 17.2mm. Around the back you’ll find a 1.5-inch display and a USB connector cleverly built into the top of the device. There is also an HDMI connection for hooking-up to the big screen.

It doesn’t offer the protection that the Playsport does, but the elegant brushed metal finish of the one we saw will appeal to those who just want a tiny camcorder to throw in a pocket or bag.

The Playfull will also be available in April, again we don’t have a UK price, we suspect it will be £149.
