(Pocket-lint) - The iPhone 5 and 5S already have really good cameras, but according to Olloclip they aren't good enough. For those that want to have even more control of the photos they take the company has created the Olloclip 4-in-1 lens system that simply sides on over the iPhone's camera giving you four further lens over and above the in-box experience.
The tiny, pocket-friendly system offers fisheye, wide-angle and 10x and 15x macro lenses all in a slip on device that you can quickly lose in your jeans pocket.
The widget, it's probably the best word for it, is made from aircraft-grade alluminium and precision-ground, coated glass optics with the specific field-of-view, light-control and resolution of the iPhone 5's 8-megapixel camera in mind. It's bright red, which also helps it stand out.
To improve on the previous 3-in-1 Olloclip, a 15x macro zoom has been added.
The 10x macro has also been improved and now features a focus distance of about 18mm which allows more light on the subject and a greater depth of field compared to the 3-in-1 version.
The wide-angle and fisheye lenses also now promise sharper, edge-to-edge images with less distortion.
In practice with an iPhone 5S and we've had great fun with it. The two bigger wide-angle and fisheye lenses unscrew to reveal the macro lens in the same casing and are not only very easy to use and master, but also make a huge difference over the standard capabilities of the iPhone without compromising the performance.
Although the fisheye lens is probably the most exaggerated - it can pick up your fingers while holding the iPhone - photographers who like taking macro shots will certainly love the macro lens. The close-ups we were able to achieve with the Lego minifigs in our office were great.
This isn't something for every day admittedly, but if you like your photography and your iPhone it's a cool, fun accessory to add another string to your iPhone photography.
The new Olloclip 4-in-1 will work with iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and 5S as well as 4th and fifth-gen iPod Touch. It can be bought direct from Olloclip's online shop or on the Apple Store for £60.
