The netbook market is a crowded place. And with so many models, with such similar specs battery life becomes a key selling point. And with almost 14 hours of battery life, the Samsung N230 may well have just put itself at the top of many shoppers' wanted lists.

The spec for the N230 is pretty much as you'd expect for Samsung's netbook line up. You've a choice of two Atom processors - the 1.66GHz N450 or the slightly nippier 1.83GHz N470. It's got 1GB of RAM and you can have either a 160 or 250GB HDD.

It has a 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600, anti-reflective LED back-lit screen and there's an ergonomic island keyboard. Connectivity is via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and an optional 3G modem.

With the 66Wh battery on board (which gives you the long life) you're looking at a 264 x 188 x 21.9-34mm size with a weight of 1.18kg. You can get a skinnier and lighter version with a 32Wh battery, but then battery life goes down to just seven hours.

It's available with a mat, gloss or patterned black finish and, according to Samsung, is out worldwide now. We've spoken to our Samsung contacts and we've been told it will be available in the UK "in the coming weeks" and it will cost £349.
