The Polaroid PoGo instant digital camera is due to launch in the UK on 11 May, and etailer Firebox has nabbed the initial exclusive to sell the new snapper.

Combining the instant fun of an old skool Polaroid camera with the portable PoGo photo printer, this 5-megapixel compact takes a picture then ejects a 300 dpi print on a 2 x 3-inch piece of sticky-back Zink photo paper.

If you go for the straight-off print, the whole process takes about 40 seconds while you can preview before you print on the camera's 3-inch LCD screen as well as crop, add borders, remove red-eye and print dates.

Other specs include 4x digital zoom, an electronic timer, movie mode with sound, SD memory card slot, USB PC hook-up and various shooting modes.

The only major downside we can see with this fun new gadget is that it manages just 15 prints per full battery charge, so not the best option for a weekend camping, perhaps.

Complete with 10 sheets of Zink photo paper, replacement packs will set you back £7.95 for 30 sheets and £17.95 for 70 sheets.

The new Polaroid PoGo instant digital camera goes on sale over on Firebox on 11 May for £229.95.
