Pentax has launched the PENTAX DA 18-250mm F.3-6.3 ED AL (IF) interchangeable zoom lens, which will enable users to shoot a variety of images without having to change lenses.
When mounted on a PENTAX digital SLR camera body, it boasts an approximately 14-times zoom ratio, covering a range from 27.5mm wide angle to 383mm super-telephoto in 35mm format.
This means the lens is able to handle a variety of applications, including the standard snapshot, landscape, portrait and even specialised photography such as sports and wildlife.
The lens has been exclusively designed for use with PENTAX digital SLR cameras, with an image circle perfectly in proportion to their image sensor size (23.5mm x 15.7mm).
Pentax has incorporated extra-low dispersion glass and two aspherical optical elements, that effectively compensates for the adverse effects of various aberrations, thet they claim helps to ensure superb image quality.
In addition, the coating, curvature and position of all the optical elements have been optimised for the characteristics of digital images, minimising the flare and ghost images that can ruin pictures.
