Olympus has pushed the realms of consumer compact digital photography one stage further this morning with the announcement of an 8 megapixel compact digital camera.

Featuring in the Mju range - the Digital 800 will offer users 8 megapixels in a compact and weatherproof design.

Finished in a dark blue or silver metal body with a 3x optical zoom the camera will be available from July 2005 and will have an estimated street price of £350
