Olympus has announced the new ultra-zoom SP-590UZ, with an impressive 26x wide-angle optical zoom.
The camera covers a 26-676mm focal length range, and with a wide angle lens, allows more of the picture to be captured in the photo. It also has the ability to take photos at up to 10fps, with dual image stabilisation to prevent blurry photos.
The 12-megapixel SP-590UZ includes a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD screen, and the option to choose between full manual control, or point-and-shoot ease. There is even the ability to use an additional wireless flash or teleconverter with the camera, for the more serious photographer.
Other features of the camera include a Super Macro mode for close-up shots from just 1cm, Beauty Mode, Multiple Exposure Mode for overlapping two separate images and Advanced Face Detection. There are 18 different shooting modes in total, but those wishing to go manual have the option to choose betwen P/A/S/M exposure modes for full creativity.
xD card compatible, the SP-590UZ will hit stores in early March 2009. Prices to be confirmed.
