Sigma has unveiled the 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC optic for Nikon APS-C sized sensor DSLRs.

The 11.1x high zoom ratio lens has a built-in AF motor allowing autofocus with all Nikon DSLR cameras.

It delivers a minimum focusing distance of 45cm at all focal lengths and has maximum magnification of 1:4.4.

The lens is constructed from 15 Elements in 13 Groups including two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and two hybrid aspherical lenses, which will correct all types of aberrations, claims the manufacturer.

Despite its zoom ratio, the lens is compact with a 70mm diameter, 75.6mm length, and weighs 395g.

The lens design incorporates an inner focusing system, which prevents the front of the lens from rotating, making it particularly suitable for using circular polarising filters and petal shaped lens hoods.

Sigma adds that the overall length of the lens does not change during focusing, "ensuring convenient handling and ease of use".

A zoom lock switch eliminates "zoom creep" during transportation, a convenient addition when traveling.

It is priced £329.99.
