Nikon has updated the S1 and S2 for the third time this year with an S3 model. The camera will offer 6 megapixels, 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens and all in a casing just 19.7mm thick.

The COOLPIX S3 has a large, bright 2.5-inch LCD monitor, promises a battery life of up to 190 shots (approx.) with a single rechargeable while delivering a speedy start-up time of just 1 second (approx.) and continuous shooting at up to 1.6fps (approx.).

The camera also features Nikon's D-Lighting, Face-priority AF function and In-Camera Red Eye Fix. There is even a total of 17 different Scene Modes to choose from in all.

The camera will come with 12Mb of internal memory and four different movie modes with 15fps performance.

The camera will be available from the end of September and cost £299.99

The company also launched the COOLPIX S4, which features a 10x Zoom-Nikkor lens. Like the COOLPIX SQ, the camera will feature a swivel lens meaning you can shoot from the waist.

The COOLPIX S4 has 6.0 megapixels, a 2.5in LCD all in a slim 37mm depth and a light weight of 205g.

The COOLPIX S4 features the same in camera options at the S3. The unit is powered by a pair of AA-size batteries.

Like the S3 the camera will be available at the end of September and will cost £329.99

Nikon also launched two Dixons exclusive models the L1 and the L110.
