Nikon has announced a new ultra slim digital camera called the Coolpix S1. The new 5.1 megapixel camera will come in three colours Pure Silver, Ivory White and Ebony Black measure 19.7mm in depth.
The new model will offer a 35-105mm 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens (35mm equivalent), a 2.5in LCD and lack a viewfinder.
Like other manufactures, Nikon is also emphasising the cameras battery capabilities and the S1 can take up to 200 images from one charge of the rechargeable battery.
The camera has seventeen scene modes, four of which feature Scene Assist including an “underwater” mode, which when combined with an optional waterproof case means that you'll be able to take it to depths of up to 40 meters.
The camera has also been designed to allow swift continuous shooting at up to 1.8 frames per second and features Nikon's D-Lighting function which automatically compensates pictures taken with excessive backlight or insufficient flash.
The Coolpix S1 will come with a docking station called the Coolstation MV-11. The camera will be available in April 2005 and will retail at £279.99
