It was back in May that it was discovered that MTI Micro was working with an "elusive Japanese developer of digicams" to get its Mobion fuel tech into products. With the discovery of this Canon Fuel Cell DSLR patent, it seems we now know who the elusive developer was.
From the patent, it seems Canon is keen to push its Fuel Cell development further by devising a method for no only powering the DSLR body, but also its external components such as lenses and flashes.
What this means essentially is that Canon wants everything you attach to you camera, as well as the camera itself, to be powered by fuel cell technology. Say hurrah for no more AAs.
There's no news as to when this system will be available, and if it ever will be for that matter. But we'll keep our ears to the ground and let you know.
