The world's first ever Photo Walk has been announced, that will see photographers coming together in over 100 cities across the globe to walk together and take photographs of their surroundings.
Organised by Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), the event has been put together to celebrate Kelby's latest book, The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers.
The idea of the Photo Walk is a fun, social photography event where photographers will get together for two hours to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers.
Each Photo Walk will have a local assigned leader that chooses the route of the walk and the ending place (such as a local restaurant, pub, or café) where participants will have the chance to look at each other’s photos from the walk and make new photography friends.
Registration is free and open to all photographers from around the world, but Photo Walk groups are limited to 50 participants in each city and advance registration is required.
A grand prize, valued at $5000, will be awarded to the single best overall photo of the day taken from all the Photo Walk locations. In addition, the best photo from the day from each city, chosen by the local Photo Walk leader, will receive a copy of Kelby’s book.
The event takes place on August 23rd and there are two locations confirmed in England, in London and Windsor. You can also apply to be the Photo Walk leader in your chosen city, and if you're picked, you'll also receive a copy of Kelby's book to say thanks.
