Sigma first unveiled its DP1 digital compact to the world at Photokina way back in September 2006.
The camera has been beset by delays but now Sigma promises that it will arrive this Spring, although hasn't been tied down to an exact date.
The compact features a 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor (2652 × 1768 × 3 layers) - the same one as in the Sigma SD14 DSLR.
Features include the ability to record images in RAW or as JPEGs in four resolution modes.
It also offers five Exposure modes and three Metering modes as well as being equipped with a built-in flash with the guide number of six, hot shoe, neck strap and 2.5 inch TFT color LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels.
The DP1 is 113.3mm(W)x59.5mm(H)x50.3mm(D) and weighs 240g.
We have no price as yet but will, of course, keep you posted.
