Medion's approach to the pocket camcorder market is to go rough and tough with the launch of the Medion Life S47000 at IFA in Berlin, Germany.

The new model will come weight 85grams, come with a 2-inch screen and able to take a beating thanks to its rubberized exterior which in hand feels strong and sturdy.

Costing £99 the camcorder sports 720p HD recording resolution, a maximum aperture of F2.8 with a focal length of f3.99 mm and shutter speed of 1/2000 in a considerably smaller device than the other pocket camcorders on the market

Splash water-resistant other features include an MP3 player, the ability to take still camera shots and HDMI and USB connectivity.

Video is stored on the rather disappointing 90MB of internal memory or more usefully an SDHC card.
