Google Glass has revealed that the company has plans to launch a dedicated app store for users of the augmented eyewear, but that won't happen until next year.

Although there are several thousand developers and early Glass pioneers with devices, thanks to the Explorer program, a consumer edition of the device will not be available until 2014, so Google is targeting that launch as its opening day for a dedicated storefront.

"The company says an app store is coming next year, when Glass is available to the general public," say the  New York Times' Clive Thompson in an article about wearing Google Glass.

It was previously reported that Google Glass had popped up as a device option on the existing Play store, but the company has not revealed whether that will be the case next year or whether the intriguing gadget will get its own portal.

For existing Glass owners, there are several other app depositories available on the net.
