Movie studio Warner Bros has launched a digital publishing initiative called Inside the Script which will release eBooks featuring shooting materials from some of its most iconic films. The digital editions will each contain a wealth of inside information, including shooting scripts, chapters about their respective movie's development and much more besides.

The first series of Inside the Script titles include eBooks for Casablanca, Ben Hur, An American in Paris and North by Northwest. Each has individual bonus features, with highlights being Charlton Heston's acting and shooting journals written during the filming of Ben Hur, and Alfred Hitchcock’s editing and main title sequence notes from North by Northwest.

"People love movies because of the stories they tell," said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros Digital Distribution.

"Now we can give fans rarely seen details of how these stories came together and take their enjoyment of films to a whole new level."

The books are available from the iBookstore for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and for the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble's Nook. They each cost £6.49 and are available to download now.
