(Pocket-lint) - Twitter offers the ability to save a tweet as a draft, as well as schedule a tweet to send at a specific time. The features arrived in 2020, removing the need for tweet scheduling tools.

The best part is these two features is that they are directly available from the tweet composer window. Here's everything you need to know.

How to save a tweet as a draft

If you don't want to finish a tweet in the moment and would like to come back to it, simply save it. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open the Compose Tweet window
  2. Hit 'Cancel' if you're in the Twitter app / Select the 'X' if you're using a browser
  3. Select 'Save Draft' on the app / 'Save' on browser

How to find Twitter drafts

Later, when you want to tweet, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Compose Tweet window
  2. Tap 'Drafts' in the top right on the Twitter app / Select Unsent Tweets on a browser
  3. You will then see a tab with all your tweet drafts.
  4. Tap one to open and finish your tweet.

Alternatively, from the compose tweet window, tap the Calendar/schedule icon and then tap 'Scheduled Tweets'. You will see a tab with your scheduled tweets. Next to the Scheduled Tweets tab is a Drafts tab which you can click on to see all your unsent tweets. This only works on browser and not on the Twitter apps.

How to schedule a tweet

If you wrote a tweet but would rather send it later at a more optimal time, just schedule it. Follow the steps below, but bear in mind that while drafts works on the iOS and Android apps, scheduling is only available on the Twitter web app.

  1. Open the Compose Tweet window
  2. Tap the Calendar/schedule icon.
  3. Select your date, time, and timezone.
  4. Press 'Confirm'
  5. Once you've finished the tweet, tap on the Schedule button.

How to find scheduled tweets

From the compose tweet window, tap 'Unsent tweets' and then tap on the Scheduled tab to see all your scheduled tweets. Tap one to open and edit your tweet. Alternatively, from the compose tweet window, tap the Calendar/schedule icon, and you will see a link to your scheduled tweets under the date and time boxes.

Anything else you should know?

As mentioned, the draft feature is available on Twitter.com and the iOS and Android apps. The scheduling feature however, is limited to Twitter.com and is currently not available on the iOS and Android apps.
