Vine bans porn and that includes mucky selfies

Vine claims that it has banned pornography on its video-sharing platform. It has prohibited explicit sexual content in submissions to the social video network and has changed its terms and conditions and rules.

"As we've watched the community and your creativity grow and evolve, we’ve found that there’s a very small percentage of videos that are not a good fit for our community," it said in a blog posting.

"We don’t have a problem with explicit sexual content on the internet - we just prefer not to be the source of it."

That doesn't mean that you won't find pornography through the app and online on vine.co though. While new pornographic submissions have been banned, plenty are still accessible in its back library. Just a search for "naked vines" on Google throws up plenty.

"If you see a video that violates our updated policy, you can report it by tapping the button with three dots below the post and selecting 'Report this post'," suggests Vine. It could take a while to find and delete all offending content.

The new rules section states that even sexual explicit selfies will not be allowed. "You may not post content that is pornographic or sexually explicit - even if it is of yourself or marked as sensitive," it states.

You can post depictions of nudity or partial nudity that are considered documentary, educational or artistic in nature.

Users that violate the new policy could have their accounts suspended until the disputed videos are removed and even permanently.
