Inside India has launched the UK's first 'Vogging' service, with the help of one of Indian Cinema's biggest stars - Amitabh Bachchan.

Bachchan Bol is a vocal blogging service that already has more than 2.6 million subscribers in India - a figure that is expected to grow to 10 million in the next six months. Already a prolific blogger and Tweeter, Bachchan will be able to tell users his thoughts which they will be able to listen to on their mobile phones. The idea is that Vogging offers a much more direct method by which celebrities can connect with their fans. Followers can also leave messages for Bachchan, making it a two-way process.

Bachchan will be using the service to share his day-to-day personal and professional experiences with regular updates. Speaking to TV and radio presenter George Lamb during a Q&A session at the launch of his new 'vog', Bachchan said that:

"Bachchan Bol is so much more than blogging or tweeting. It offers a feeling of immediacy and I can also use it as a platform for encouraging debate on important issues".

Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most famous actors and producers to come out of Indian Cinema and first became a big name in the early '70s when he came to be known as the "angry young man" of Hindi cinema. As well as making his mark as a film icon, he has also carved out a career as the presenter of India's version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Inside India is a multinational company that acts as an agent for licensed content from Indian superstars. The Vogging service, beginning with Bachchan Bol, will be rolled as out Star Diaries, and is set to offer access to stars of cinema, sport and fashion.

If the service is a success, this could well be the next step forward in social networking and blogging, particularly for those celebrities that already keep in touch with their fans through Twitter.
