Skype has announced "unlimited" calling to over a third of the world's population with the launch of its new calling subscriptions.
The "unlimited" part is, of course, limited (that word increasingly means nothing in today's tech world) at 10,000 minutes per month - which equates to more than 5 hours of calling per day.
The first time Skype has offered a single, monthly flat rate for such calls, with no long-term contract, users can choose from three types of subscription – from unlimited calls to landlines in the country of your choice through to landlines in 34 destination countries worldwide.
The three packages are "Unlimited Country" for unlimited calls to landlines in the UK for £1.95 per month while "Unlimited Europe" gives you unlimited calls to landlines in 20 European countries for £2.95 a month.
The "Unlimited World" package gives unlimited calls to landlines in 34 countries worldwide for £6.95 each month.
The deals are available now, and those that sign up for a 3-month or 12-month period before 1 June 2008, will receive a further 33% discount.
