Skype, has released Skype 2.5, a new version of its Voice Over IP software application the promises plenty of enhancements over previous versions.

The new software pledges easier registration and improved conference calling. Skype has said that the new version also included improved localized payment options in over 15 different currencies.

In addition to Skype 2.5 beta, the company has introduced an early preview of Skypecasts a software application that allows live, chaired conversations of up to 100 people from anywhere in the world to talk to one another.

What is the equivalent of the old village meeting, Skypecasts are chaired by the "host" who is able to mute, reject or pass the virtual microphone to participants when they wish to speak. Hosting or participating in a Skypecast is completely free.
