Bing, Microsoft's search engine, has demoed a new "Visual search" tool which it hopes will help people find what they are looking for even when they are lost for the right words.

Called Visual Search, the new service allows you to "formulate and refine your search queries through imagery", and is designed to be used for sets of results that tend to be more structured say Bing.

The new demo, which will require Microsoft's Silverlight technology to work, will let users search through a number of different products and people via the new search feature.

Microsoft is suggesting people use it for shifting through products, books, cars, and people like US congressmen and NFL players.

Working in a similar way to Cooliris, users can quickly scan through a stack of images and pick the one they want (according to colour for instance) by scrolling images with their mouse.
