Microsoft not wanting to be outdone by Google and Yahoo has today announced a desktop search for PC users.

The search, which launched as a beta was introduced on the web portal and titled as the MSN Toolbar Suite. The software which is similar to Google will let people search the contents of their hard drive including Microsoft Outlook emal, calendar items contacts and Office documents.

In addition to the desktop search facilities the software also allows users to search the web with MSN's new search engine.

The desktop search market has been heating up since Google launched it's desktop search software in October. Yahoo plans to launch its desktop software in January.
