Google has announced that it is bringing its Labs feature to Google Calendar allowing people to add new features to the diary service.
Although Google's Gmail has had a Labs feature for some time, allowing people to experiment with new features for the email service, it's has taken over 3 years to add the bolt-on features to the company's calendar service.
From today, Google calendar users will be able to choose one of six new Labs features to try out, including a world time widget and the ability to change the background of your calendar to something a little more friendly than just white.
Others include Next Meeting, which shows you how much time you have until you're next meeting and Free or Busy allows you to see which of your friends or coworkers are currently in meetings similar to professional calendar applications like Meeter Maker.
Rather than just provide Labs features, Google has said that it is allowing anyone to do it with an "experimental API" for you to build your own Calendar features.
