It is being reported that owners of Nexus 4 smartphones are starting to receive over-the-air updates to Android 4.4 KitKat. The operating system launched alongside the Nexus 5 at the end of October is alleged to have appeared on users' phones and is around 240MB to download.

The update, titled KRT16S, was promised by Google as "coming soon" about three weeks ago and has arrived perhaps sooner than some had speculated.

A new launcher is part of the update and is essentially the new and improved Google Search app. It is believed that a further update soon after will iron out any minor bugs you might notice.

Pocket-lint is yet to receive the update on its UK Nexus 4, but these rollouts can take a while to reach all locations. Certainly the evidence provided by other owners seems genuine.
