Google has announced that its music streaming device, the Nexus Q has been delayed after it was initially due to be released in July.

However, it’s not all bad news, with new features to be added and anyone who pre-ordered the device from Google Play to receive an early dev sample free.

Google hasn’t yet revealed what new features will be added to the Nexus Q, but after receiving criticism for making the device compatible only with music and video streams from Google Music, Google Play and YouTube, we’d expect this to be remedied. An actual user interface would also be a welcome addition.

No new launch date has been provided and Google is no longer taking pre-orders on its Google Play website.

However, Google has informed any customers who pre-ordered the device that they will receive a dev version of the Google Nexus Q for free. This is the same device developers received at Google’s I/O where the Nexus Q was first unveiled.
