BT is expanding its customer IT service with the launch of BT Home IT Visit.
The service isn’t cheap: for £50 an engineer will visit your home to install broadband, while for £75 someone will visit your house to help with any IT problems you may be having. Subsequent hours are charged at £25.
BT has been testing the service for 3 months, and now has an army of 2000 engineers ready and waiting to help with IT at home. They can help to set up hardware or to check a computer for viruses and bugs, as well as back up data.
In addition, if you’re migrating to a new PC, the engineers can help in setting up the new machine and transferring older data to it; or they can set up a home network for sharing data.
The Home IT Visit service follows the launch last March of BT Home IT Advisor, which provides subscribers with a single IT advisor who can help over the phone or log in to your computer remotely to troubleshoot. A subscription costs £9.99 a month.
