AOL today announced the launch of AOL Talk, a home telephone service for landline customers fed up with BT that will go live tomorrow.
AOL Talk will be available from Tuesday 17th May for current and new AOL
internet subscribers, and will be available as a standalone product later this year. It will include unlimited UK local and national calls at any time of the day or night.
The price of the service will be £9.99 unless you are already an AOL customer, at which point, it will be £7.99 for the first 12 months.
The unlimited calls will have strings attached though, mainly that it only applies to UK local and national calls to landline numbers with 01 and 02 number prefix - does not include local and national rate numbers 0845 and 0870 - ie mostly likely your bank and other information based services or mobiles.
In the UK AOL has more than 2.3 million subscribers, including more than
one million on AOL Broadband.
