Fender has launched a USB version of its classic Squier by Fender Stratocaster guitar, which can directly connect to an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Mac, and Apple is stocking it in its online stores in several countries.

Available on Apple.com for $199.95 and the UK version of the site for £159.95, the guitar comes with connections for both USB (so can be hooked up to a computer) and the older 30-pin cable for iOS devices. If you have an iPhone 5, iPad mini or iPad 4, you'll also need a Lightning adaptor.

The guitar has all the normal switches and gubbins you'd expect on a classic Stratocaster, including the pickup select switch, pickup volume control, pickup tone control and headphone volume control. And there's a 6.3mm passive guitar output for hooking it up to a conventional amplifier. There's also a 3.5mm headphone audio output.

At the moment, Apple is listing the Squier by Fender USB Stratocaster guitar as out of stock, both in the UK and US, but that's no doubt because it has just been launched and is awaiting delivery.
