Tim Cook, Apple CEO, has confirmed that there are now 200 million iOS 6 devices in circulation, showing that regardless of issues with the new Apple Maps, people have been keen to upgrade or buy new Apple products.

The huge adoption of the new OS has been helped with buoyant sales of the iPhone 5 (5 million), and the new iPods, that have sold more than 3 million units since the launch earlier in the month.

"This is the fastest upgrade rate of any software in history - that we're aware of," said Tim Cook on stage to the audience at the company's event.

In related news, Apple says that there are now 275,000 iPad apps and owners have downloaded more than 35 billion apps to date.
