Apple has released an update for iTunes ahead of the US launch of the iPad, for those unable to contain their excitement before Saturday's big launch.

iTunes 9.1 mainly brings with it support for the iPad, and the new iBooks store Apple is launching Stateside on 3 April allows people to download the new update over the next 4 days, rather than insisting there is a mass bundle on launch day.

Users will be able to download the new version ahead of the launch of the company's new tablet so they can sync their iPad to enjoy music, movies, TV shows, books and more on the go, says Apple.

Other pros will be the ability to organise and sync books you've downloaded from iBooks on the iPad or added to your iTunes library.

Users will also, for the first time, be able to rename, rearrange, or remove Genius Mixes.

There are of course the usual bevy of security fixes as well.

You can download it from Apple now.
