Amazon has announced it is offering the "Amazon App for BlackBerry".

The app is available as a free download in the States directly from, which is interesting when you consider how RIM's BlackBerry App World store business model works with revenue generation after download.

The app lets users buy using 1-Click or Amazon Prime, track orders and access their wish list as well as offering the company's "Amazon Remembers" function that matches photos snapped on the phone to products in the online store.

Amazon launched a similar iPhone application in December and the etailer says: "Customers have been asking us to bring a similar experience to the BlackBerry".

On a final point, it's again bad news for early adopters - the app is only available for BlackBerrys with a track ball, so will not work with RIM's touchscreen BlackBerry Storm or older models.
