has opened a fine art section of its online store, making it easier to browse and buy work online from a number of galleries across the US, Canada, UK and the Netherlands.

There are more than 40,000 works of art available, all categorised and organised so they are easy to search through. They range across all prices from the very affordable, to the somewhat inaccessible, with works from Warhol, Hirst, Chagall and Dali getting featured sections.

The aim of Amazon Art is to make fine art more accessible and provide galleries - from the big to the small - with greater access to Amazon's customers online.

"We are excited to bring one of the largest selections of fine art direct from galleries to our customers," said Peter Faricy, vice-president for Amazon Marketplace.

"Amazon Art gives galleries a way to bring their passion and expertise about the artists they represent to our millions of customers."

With a breakdown of subjects, style, size and orientation, it's easy to lose yourself just browsing through the selection on offer. You can view the artwork itself, as well as get an idea, in some cases, of how it might look in your room.

There are also details of the particulars of the work, including the location of the artist's signature, the materials used, the history of the piece and the condition it is in.

"Our passion is to make original art accessible to everyone. When we first heard the vision for Amazon Art, we knew immediately it was a great fit," said Jodie and Joshua Steen, Founders of LusterNYC, located in Brooklyn, NY.

"I think we'll begin to see a whole new breed of art collector, and that's good for everyone - the galleries, artists, and customers."
