Open Source software devotees in the States can now help the Linux cause "by carrying Tux in their pockets".
The Linux Foundation, the non-profit organisation that supports the growth of the OS, has announced the launch of a credit card that will see money going to the foundation.
CardPartner, through the UMB Bank, will pass on $50 for every activated card as well as a percentage of every purchase made with the credit card.
"Funds raised from our new Visa card program will go directly toward providing community technical events and travel grants for open source community members in order to accelerate Linux innovation", says the foundation.
At launch, only available in the US, the scheme is due to be expanded to other regions in the coming months.
