Over the weekend, a bunch of enterprising coders and music fans got together in London for Music Hack Day. MusicBore was one of the projects birthed - it's a software DJ that talks all over your favourite records.
Taking information from the BBC, Last.fm and a variety of other sources, the DJ will use speech synthesis to compile some witty anecdotes over the top of the start of the track. Sometimes it doesn't quite get it right, but arguably that's almost more charming.
It's not quite in a state that's ready for primetime yet, therefore, but it's an interesting use of open APIs on the web, and how they can be combined into something useful. For more info, and to see some of the other hacks, check out the link below.
